THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 PAINTER (MI CSMS), Position Description Number D2127000 and is part of the MI CSMS, Michigan Army National Guard.

Duties

***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (G-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to prepare and apply coating materials such as paints, varnishes, and rust proofing compounds on stationary and mobile equipment and on combat, tactical, and commercial vehicles. 1. Prepares surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. 2. Prepares coating materials using guidelines set by the manufacturer, by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives) needed for the different coatings to work properly and achieve the necessary surface appearance. 3. Applies coatings using acceptable methods of the trade to include special finishing techniques to achieve desired results. 4. Monitors and adjusts air pressures in paint booth, controls heat settings and drying times in drying booth to achieve proper surface adhesion of coatings. 5. Applies Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Army National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
• Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
• Applicants who are not currently a member of the Michigan Army National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Michigan Army National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
• Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

• Must have a valid civilian driver's license.
