This position is the Foreman Supervisor, Environmental Management Services (EMS), VA Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. The Medical Center is a large, complex and modern affiliated 269-bed facility consisting of over 2,800 employees, involving a wide spectrum of professional, technical and administrative occupants. The facility is comprised of 172 beds General Medicine, Surgical and Psychiatric Medical center, and 120 beds Nursing Home Care Unit.

Duties

Primary duties include but not limited to, Fully responsible and accountable for planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of the hospital program. Plans , Coordinates and supervises hospital housekeeping program to include environmental sanitation, waste management, recycling, pest control, and bed service. Conducts systematic monitoring and surveillance of all EMS services. Determines long-range, intermediate, and short range program goals and policies independently or jointly with management and/ or Medical Center Committees. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, evaluating and managing the process for EMS which includes setting qualitative and quantitative standards. Develops and implements organizational structures and operating plans and procedures to achieve program goals. Monitors the effectiveness and efficiency of operations withing the established framework and makes necessary adjustments. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments and capability of employees. Assures subordinate supervisors and employees effectively carry out policies to achieve Management objectives. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Required to perform frequent walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping and may occasionally lift heavy objects such as bags of fertilizer, grass seed, tools or equipment. Physical effort may include squeezing into and crawling through tight spaces for a limited amount of time as well as working on top of and climbing on equipment. Working Conditions: Workers frequently carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40lbs. with the assistance of weight lifting equipment and/or other workers. Supervisory roles may also include working at a desk for long periods of time; this may include filing, writing and computer data entry.
