About the position: This position will be assigned to Fam Camp (Outdoor Recreation) at Barksdale AFB, LA. This position is a Flexible position. Flexible positions do not have any benefits (medical, dental, retirement, 401(k), annual/sick leave, etc.). Intermittent (Flexible) Employees have no guaranteed work hours but may be worked 0 to 40 hours a week.

Duties

Performs a variety of general laboring tasks involved with maintenance of the facilities and grounds at Outdoor Recreation/Fam Camp. Work involves the performance of tasks requiring prior experience and the use of very heavy physical effort, (power edgers, power trimmers, power washers). Uses a variety of hand tools (e.g rakes, hoes, and manual saws), and performing simple minor repair work around the facility (e.g. carpentry work). Operates walking-or riding-type power mowers (e.g., one or more cutting decks, mechanical controls and attachable implements) and/or simple riding-type mowers trimming grass, shrubs, edging and cutting down overhanging branches. Maintains picnic tables, grills, bathhouses (toilets, shower stalls, laundry rooms) swings and slides in serviceable conditions. Maintains gasoline, oil and other equipment fluid levels daily van, truck and golf cart for Outdoor Recreation. Reports equipment problems and failures to supervisors and places work orders for major repairs. Returns equipment to designated location when picked up from repair shop to include picking necessary equipment from the Rental Center. May collect payment from Fam Camp patrons, prepares and submits daily reports to the Financial Management Branch when necessary. Loads, unloads, moves, and stacks bulky items from trucks and other conveyances using hand trucks or dollies. Uses loaders to remove dirt, debris, and other materials; operates pool equipment and transports to dealership if in need of repair. Performs other related work as directed. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control and clean heavy powered equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work that does not require the skill and knowledge in operating heavy equipment continually involves extreme physical effort, such as constantly lifting or carrying objects weighing 80 to 100 pounds or more with assistance. Experience in cash handling procedures and customer service. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
