This position serves as an Administrative Support Assistant (OA) to the Office of the Chief, Veterans Affairs Community Care Service.
Duties
As an Administrative Support Assistant (OA), you will:
Receive visitors and telephone calls and referring to the appropriate party
Provide technical support assistance as well as administrative support to the organization
Perform various processing and producing a wide range of documents/materials/reports using a variety of office automation software
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30a.m. to 4p.m.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. You will sit comfortably to do the work, however, there may be some walking, standing, or carrying of light items such as manuals or files. The work does not require special physical demands.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Typing Proficiency: You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
In addition to the Typing Proficiency, you must meet at least one of the minimum qualification requirements described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: placing calls to customers and vendors, assisting staff with appointment scheduling, assisting staff with consult closure, taking memos for incoming calls for staff and management, sending and receiving customer and vendor correspondence and data entry. - OR
Education: Successful completion of education above high school level in an field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. - OR
Combination of Specialized Experience & Education
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
