This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Provide standardized preventive, psycho-educational, intervention services of through a home visitation model for military personnel and their families who have been assessed to be at risk for child maltreatment and/or domestic violence assessment.
Develops a specialized Family Care Plan based on the assessment of the family and their unique needs.
Provide education on a variety of topics to help alleviate conditions that cause or exacerbate family violence, (child growth and development, infant newborn behavior, stressors associated with new parenting role, deployment and/or single parenting).
Serves as a case manager, prepares case management plan and initiates appropriate prevention plans and referrals for therapy with family and others, as needed.
Provides social case work, and individual group, family consultation, education, and prevention to promote maximum benefits from the services provided
Collaborates with military and civilian agencies to ensure continuity, and/or appropriate level of care.
In coordination with the Family Advocacy Incident Determination Committee (IDC), develops NPSP adjunct intervention to augment FAP intervention plan in cases that have met criteria.
Constructs and maintains statistical and narrative reports. Conducts pre- and post- case assessments to include data collection/ outcome measures, statistical analysis for program evaluation.

- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization. The incumbent must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Must possess a current valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently is required recognized by a state or US Territory. You must provide a copy of your license.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Family Advocacy):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: Providing counseling to families, determining appropriate prevention plans for family therapy, developing specialized care plans, coordinating with medical treatment facilities, and performing home visits with those they are assisting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
