You will serve as a PIPEFITTER LEADER (SHIP TO SHORE) in the Utilities Department of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will determine the extent of repairs required for piping systems or equipment.
You will read and interpret plans, blueprints, or sketches to install, modify, or repair new or existent piping systems.
You will review work order requirements to evaluate time, resources, materials, equipment, or sequence for work to be scheduled and performed.
You will inspect job sites to determine nature and sequence of work on piping installation or repair projects.
You will test piping systems at completion of the repair to verify they are operating according to requirements.

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- Must maintain a driver’s license up to a 5 ton truck.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift when necessary.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including rotating shifts, overtime, nights, weekends, holidays and/or be "called back" to meet mission requirements.
Qualifications

1) Installing, modifying, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing new and existing high pressure piping systems and equipment;
2) Interpreting work orders, blueprints and sketches for the planning, laying out, and installing of piping systems;
3) Performing maintenance to piers utility systems (Sewage, Steam, LP, Air, Oily Waste);
4) Following all safety requirements and housekeeping practices, and procedures; and
5) Passing on instructions for the supervisor.
