The incumbent of this position performs as a Tractor Operator operating wheel-mounted tractors and towed or attached equipment. This position is covered by AFGE bargaining unit. Duties

Major Duties include, but not limited to: Operates farm-type tractors through hydraulic or mechanical controls. Operates vehicles that are equipped with air brakes. Operates a variety of heavy equipment with attachments or towing equipment, bulldozers, backhoes, snowplows, dump trucks, street sweeper, etc. Operates lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, and stack material. Follows specifications when attaching appropriate equipment to the tractor (including hydraulic and mechanical power and control systems) and safely adjust it for the type of work to be performed. Completes all assignments as quickly as possible without delay with dexterity and dependability. The employee is exposed to high and low temperatures, strains from handling heavy objects, cuts and abrasions from tools and equipment. The employee may be exposed to chemical dust and sprays and may need to wear protective clothing and respirators.
