About the Position: This is a civilian position with the 377th Theater Sustainment Command, 143rd Mission Support Element, 143rd ESC Orlando, FL.

Duties

Brief commands on unit compliance with established training objectives related to suicide prevention. Review investigations and develop summaries to brief senior leadership. Coordinate with internal and external organizations to share information, trends, best practices, lessons learned, and/or training developments. Perform staff assisted visits to ensure regulatory program compliance. Develop suicide prevention program goals and objectives for the Major Subordinate Commands (MSC). Administer the suicide prevention program for both military and civilian members. Prepare reports using automated software such as Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint. Navigate different systems to acquire information related to personnel suicide events.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position required you to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Social Workers, Psychologist, Counselors and Social and Community Service Managers. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing a suicide prevention program, arranging, or providing technical briefings, orientations, training, and workshops involving support programs, developing program policies and procedures and preparing correspondence and reports using a variety of automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Social Workers, Psychologist, Counselors and Social and Community Service Managers. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsEducation and TrainingOral CommunicationOrganizational Performance Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
