About the Position: These positions are located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado. A recruitment incentive may be authorized.

Duties

Perform regular and modified salad preparation tasks such as making fruit and vegetable salads. Prepare limited breakfast and short order items to include grilling or frying. Assemble patient trays. Set up and replenish salad bar according to established procedures. Measure ingredients in accordance with instructions and directions provided. Replenish food to service counters, steam tables, and side service stands with hot and cold foods. Portion food items for regular and modified diets. Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds may be required.
• This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
• This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.

I have the ability to perform common duties such as preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing; setting up and serving hot and/or cold food on cafeteria and patient tray lines adhering to portion control; following safety and sanitation procedures in food handling and in cleanup. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Work requires exposure to steam, fumes and odors; soiling of hands and clothing; extreme cold temperatures of freezers and refrigerators and heat of cooking equipment and ovens. There is danger of slipping on wet or soiled floors. Cooks are subject to cuts from knives or other equipment and subject to burns from steam, scalding, hot foods or grease.
