About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Duties

As a Supervisory Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will: Serve as Supervisor of the Processing Element of the MEPS Provide technical administration and oversight of the processing element/ Make recommendations on initiatives to improve military processing function. Provide training on various topics to groups and/or individuals. Coordinate with others to ensure proper processing of applicants into military service.. Ensure updates/changes to regulations are communicated to subordinates and prepare new regulations as needed..

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to possess or be able to obtain and maintain a personnel security background check.
  • This position may require you to work an occasional Saturday and/or shift work.
  • This position may require routine unscheduled overtime to accommodate fluctuations in workload based on the daily mission requirements.

  • Position may require to perform temporary duty (TDY) business travel occasional overnight as assigned.
  • Successful completion of applicable Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Training is required in order to access the MHS GENESIS System within 30 days of on-boarding and/or as required.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • One year Supervisory probationary period may be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. TYPING: This position requires a qualified typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceManaging Human ResourcesOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). If you are a current, Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade Requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.
