The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives.
Duties
The National Counterterrorism Center's Directorate of Intelligence (NCTC/DI) seeks a motivated intelligence analyst who desires a challenging and rewarding assignment with a high-performing team of officers working CT issues related to Europe. This team houses experts on the full set of violent extremist actors operating within the European continent, relevant terrorist travel issues, and CT partner capabilities. The team enhances counterterrorism strategy, policymaking, and operations as the NCTC and interagency focal point on threats to US and partner interests in Europe, threats to the Homeland originating in Europe, and European counterterrorism efforts, and leads the interagency in fusing foreign and domestic sources of intelligence to provide customers a decisive edge in making critical decisions.
The DI has an expansive mission that requires a rigorous approach to analysis and collaboration across the Intelligence Community (IC). Aspiring candidates will be at the forefront of NCTC's efforts to provide the highest quality strategic analysis on the most important counterterrorism topics.
Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to:
Develop and produce a broad range of finished intelligence products in support of United States (US) foreign policy and national security interests.
Drive the IC's understanding of key CT issues across Europe and Eurasia, by writing tactical and strategic analytic products.
Capitalize on NCTC's unique access to data and tools to perform multi-methods analysis.
Prepare and present written and oral briefings to senior internal and external customers.
Prepare ODNI and NCTC senior leaders to represent the IC's view in policy discussions.
Engage frequently with customers and stakeholders to ensure NCTC's products are timely and relevant.
Continue to build your area of expertise and writing and critical thinking skills through ongoing training.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
- Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- A two-year trial period is required for all new permanent appointments to the ODNI.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
Analytic and critical thinking skills, including the ability to think strategically.
Knowledge of written tradecraft and a track record of producing written products that are clear, concise, and well-organized.
Ability to effectively express thoughts verbally and deliver engaging, informative briefings, often under tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills, including an ability to collaborate with others to complete tasks.
Ability to remain open-minded and change opinions based on new information and requirements; ability to find creative solutions to tough analytic problems.
Knowledge in area of subject matter expertise.
Knowledge of US policy and national security issues.

Applicants must have at minimum a Bachelor's degree in terrorism or counterterrorism studies or a related field, such as foreign policy, international studies, political science, or security studies, or at least three years of experience in all-source analysis at a national intelligence agency, federal law enforcement organization, military service component, or combatant command.
Desired Requirements:
Generally, two or more years of work experience related to Europe and/or Eurasia.
Knowledge of a European, Central Asian, or Russian language.
