About the position: This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on Holloman AFB, NM. The incumbent will work days and evenings, Monday through Friday with occasional weekends. Military Spouse Preference is not lost if selected for this position.

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to provide swim lessons and instructions to groups of people through the Outdoor Recreation program. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Provides swimming lessons and instruction to groups of adults and/or children, or to individual adults or children. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Works with management and other WSI instructors to ensure adequate ratio of instructor to student, and lifeguards on stand to facilitate classes. Works in swimming pool environment where lifeguards are present to perform lifesaving activity. Assist with research in additional trainings required to expand and enhance offerings. May assist lifeguards in inspecting pools for safe conditions, and perform other duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming pool to include: water quality readings, cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks. Requirements

• This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification for the type of activity and skill levels they are instructing, e.g., swimming, aquatic exercise. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of instructional and developmental teaching methods, swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. A nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training, is desired, but not required.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
