You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (CNIC) of NAF EL CENTRO SEC DET.

Duties

You will operate office equipment (e.g., photocopiers, scanners, facsimile) to perform a variety of administrative tasks. You will maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing and database systems, either manually or using a computer. You will work with the Security Officer in conducting security surveys, inspections and inventories to ensure activity wide compliance with information security directives. You will prepare written security reports to provide information to decision makers. You will interact with the public tactfully to provide assistance to general questions and non emergency situations.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Providing administrative support by using office automation software to create documents, reports, and briefings; 2) Applying knowledge of supply and procurement procedures to ensure supplies are stocked and properly obtained; 3) Preparing and maintaining records, files, and correspondence for an organization according to established regulations; and 4) Gathering factual evidence of administrative waste and abuse through employee/supervisor interviews, review of work procedures, instructions, and files. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
