About the Position: This vacancy is for a Navigation Project Assistant (Office Automation), GS-0303-07 at the Mississippi River Project Office located in Pleasant Valley, Iowa.
Duties
Act as a focal point and liaison between the district office and multiple field sites within the Inland Marine Transportation System.
Conduct training needs of personnel to include; providing training source information, preparing registration/funding documents and maintaining training records.
Serve as project timekeeper in accordance with regulatory guides; provide assistance to personnel, monitor annual and sick leave as well as overtime usage, assist with initiating payroll changes.
Act as ordering officer and credit card holder to purchase supplies or services under authorized dollar threshold.
Project and estimate fiscal year allocations of contractual and noncontractual obligations; create appropriate automated purchase requests.
Process project Tour of Duty (TDY) orders to include; researching travel modes, maintaining accounting data on travel, coordinating travel arrangements, completing vouchers and monitoring payment to employees.
Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) such as FEM, Dyna Star, or other CMMS to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis, data entry, and documentation of current and future maintenance operations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist. Must be able to type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
- Position may require the employee to possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

To qualify for the GS-07:
Specialized Experience: Once year specialized experience to include performing primary timekeeper duties, such as, initiating payroll, monitoring annual and sick leave usage, assisting with vacation schedules etc.; completing travel orders and vouchers for personnel; performing procurement activities, such as, purchasing supplies or services, determining appropriate methods, recording transactions, and tracking receipt of supplies; and/or coordinating training needs of personnel, such as, conducting annual training, providing training source information, preparing registration/funding documents and maintaining training records.
