You will serve as a CARTOGRAPHIC TECHNICIAN in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC NORTHWEST.

Duties

Create and maintain a geo spatial database for regional data compatibility across the enterprise. Transforms Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or AutoCAD data between multiple map projections to provide a decision level document. Compute skews and chart rotations to produce maps. Advise customers on production problems as required by organization. Identify issues or problems to formulate workable corrective measures. Use email to collaborate with others to address problems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered AIS Level II. Must be able to obtain and maintain access to controlled security areas.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a Senior Technician/Subject Matter Expert in preparing and updating maps using AutoCAD/GIS software and other applications; 2) Applying advance GIS knowledge and techniques in integrating digital special data for presentation in narrative and graphic form; 3) Evaluating source material for data integrity, reliability and/or validity purposes and updating as circumstances warrant or needs arise; and 4) Providing customer service and/or assistance in determining GIS products to fulfill requirements.
