Duties

Serves as the Patient Safety Manager and is responsible for overseeing the Patient Safety Program. Executes project management, program integration and administrative, clinical, educational, and research components for the Patient Safety Program. Oversees military treatment facility care delivery processes for the Patient Safety Program. Directs and coordinates the Patient Safety Program accreditation and compliance programs. Educates staff on key patient safety principles.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position may be designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
• This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes administrating, managing or supervising business activities within a health care facility as the Patient Safety Manager; managing and overseeing the military treatment facility care delivery processes; directing accreditation and compliance programs; and educating staff of patient safety principles. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
