This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Boston Division, Office of Diversion Program Manager, Diversion Group 2, Boston, MA. This position(s) primary purpose is to perform a variety of technical law enforcement support work relative to the cases being investigated by the Criminal Investigators or Diversion Investigators.

As an Investigative Assistant (OA) your typical work assignments may include: Performing database queries in law enforcement, compliance, and/or inspection computer systems such as Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Information System Database (NADDIS), Controlled Substances Act Database (CSA), and Chemical Handlers Enforcement Management Systems (CHEMS). Researching, assembling, compiling and tabulating information and figures, as may be necessary to use in investigations, seizures, and as evidence in various cases. Performing work related to gathering, acquiring, and developing resource materials and other information to support the law enforcement, compliance, and/or inspection program mission of an organization. Performing office automation work requiring the use of software applications, such as spreadsheets, database, word processing, desktop publishing, and graphics applications and various computer equipment. Preparing correspondence, reports, technical documents, graphs/charts, forms, and other office support materials and ensuring correct spelling, punctuation, grammar, and format.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes: GS-06: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) producing routine reports; 2) summarizing program information; 3) searching a variety of sources to obtain materials to support program activities; and 4) performing complex database queries using a variety of computer systems to extract data. GS-07: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: 1) conducting complex and unique law enforcement searches and queries; 2) gathering and analyzing data; 3) preparing various reports related to investigations; 4) making recommendations based on findings; and 5) identifying inaccuracies or anomalies in the information gathered. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: Applicant must be able to type 40 words per minute with 3 or fewer errors. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
