The purpose of this position is to ensure the medical doctors, independent license practitioners, and non-physician providers' credentials meet the Service Unit Medical Staff Bylaws, government and accrediting agency standards. This position is located in Chinle Service Unit, Division of Clinical Services, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
Ensure medical staff are qualified, competent, capable of delivering quality health services and that they are granted privileges commensurate with their training and competency.
Review applications, scheduling, secure housing and coordinate orientation for Medical Staff.
Identify the needs of technical services, supplies, equipment, professional books, journals, and other such services necessary to carry out assignments.
Monitor the appointment, reappointment, expansion/reduction of privileges, temporary membership, temporary privileges, and verification of current licensure.
Maintain an accurate, current, and confidential computerized database.
Provides technical assistance to Supervisors, Chief of Staff and Clinical Director in preparation for presentation.
Prescreens credentialing application for minimal qualification and Indian Health Service forms.
Complies reports and queries from Medical Doctor (MD)-Staff for various reports, and listings.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Maintaining credentialing process, ensuring medical staff are qualified, initiating background research, evaluating medical staff files, compiling reports, and communicating with Service Unit Business Office.
OR
1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement
GS09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Processing credentialing and privileging process. Monitoring current licensures, initiating background research, ensuring qualifications are met, collecting documentation, evaluating medical staff files, ensuring timely filing, and providing technical assistance.

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
