This National Guard position is for a Health Technician, Position Description Number NGD2061000 and is part of 153rd Engr Bn. This is a Title 32, Dual-Status position. AREAS OF CONSIDERATION: - Members of the South Dakota Army National Guard and those eligible for membership.

Duties

As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN, GS-0640-7, you will: This position is located in the S-1 section of a Brigade/Group/Troop Command in the Army National Guard (ARNG). The purpose of this position is to manage and accomplish work in the area of personnel medical readiness management and reporting; provide quality assurance and advisory services to subordinate units.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED:This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Enlisted up to E6/SSG. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Skilled in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Ability to clearly enunciate English without impediment of speech that would interfere or prohibit efficient communication. Ability to write English in reports and presentation formats. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Skilled in presenting formal training presentations and briefings. Ability to assess body language and perceive emotional and/or distress levels. Skilled in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting program material. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Must have at least 12 months experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person to-person contacts to convey information. Applicants must have progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience interpreting regulations, policies or law and providing guidance. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) and how they relate to work experience, education or training. - Knowledge of procedures for requesting military and civilian medical support resources to coordinate, execute, and update required documentation that supports individual medical readiness. - Knowledge of automated medical occupational data systems utilized to manage, report, and track medical qualifications and certifications. - Knowledge of the military missions and organizational structures of the various units within the state. - Skill in analyzing information, to determine its relevance, and to provide options to management/supervisors/military members regarding appropriate course of action.
