The incumbent serves as the Chief Housekeeping Officer and reports to the Assistant/Associate Medical Center Director. The Hospital Housekeeping Officer has primary duties focused on support or problem resolution of Medical Center environment of care operations, policies, and projects. The incumbent is expected to make complex decisions which require frequent adjustment to a high traffic, fluid environment.

Duties

Provides specialized training concerning the handling of contaminated and non-contaminated linen as well as the use of and upkeep of sanitation equipment to ensure adherence to established standards, procedures, and instructions. The incumbent is responsible for the evaluation of, supplies and equipment to determine those best suited to accomplish the desired sanitation level. Oversees Bed Cleaning Services and maintains operations in cleaning of bed units due to patients discharge s, transfers, or due to concurrent needs. Select and interview applicants for appointments and promotions. Formulates , devises and designs training programs, both on the job and classroom type instructions, with periodic follow up to determine adequacy of training. Develops budget requests on a short, intermediary, and long-range basis to support program needs. Establishes standards for wall washing, window cleaning, floor striping waxing, cleanliness of building, and service equipment. Manages the Waste Management Program and is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective waste removal program. Develops technical procedures and standards and through others assures that instructions are adhered to, to create and preserve a clean and sanitary environment. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/03/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the 12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
