About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency, North Central Coast Market at the Naval Medical Center Camp LeJeune, evaluating, diagnosing, treating and consulting for patients of all ages with psychological disorders under the Director of Behavioral health, Mental Health. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients who evidence the full range of disorders described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Conduct psychological assessment of patients with a wide variety of known or suspected psychological disorders that affect intellectual, cognitive, behavioral or emotional functioning. Provide staffing for clinical cases, including in emergency consultation and crisis scenarios. Function as an authoritative source of information regarding the use, selection, and interpretation of psychological tests, and oversee, administer, and interpret appropriate psychological tests. Conduct individual and group short-term therapy sessions, including psychoeducational sessions, using expert knowledge and therapeutic techniques. Review and approve the appropriate modality of each patient; develop treatment plans; evaluate overall effectiveness of therapeutic efforts using both objective and subjective measures, instituting changes as needed. Provide expert oversight of training in diagnosis and treatment to certified and intern counselors in the Department.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required for all Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS) positions with access to network systems and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Employees who have direct contact with patients will receive appropriate immunization against communicable diseases unless a current immunization, a protective titer, or a medical exemption is documented.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
  • Employees assigned to or subject to being assigned to duties providing direct patient care, either diagnostic or therapeutic must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychological assessments, developing treatment plans, and conducting individual and/or group therapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). License: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
