You will serve as a LEGAL INSTRUMENTS EXAMINER in the LEGAL SERVICE SUPPORT SECTION of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will review a variety of civil process documents submitted by various law enforcement agencies to ensure procedural and legal regularity in accordance with pertinent statues, regulations, and military directives. You will prepare and oversee the execution of delivery agreements with other jurisdictions prior to delivery of service members, ensuring all requirements set for in the applicable regulations and directives are met. You will screen requests for production of official records, information or testimony whether by subpoena or otherwise. You will ensure compliance with MCO 5800.14 (Victim-Witness Assistance Program) by all installation and tenant commands. You will respond to inquiries from attorneys and law enforcement authorities on procedures for and restrictions in service of civil process.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to be a North Carolina notary public within 90 days of the date of employment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reviewing a variety of civil process documents, preparing legal agreements, screening requests to determine legal action required, and coordinating support services for victims and witnesses.
