The duties and responsibilities are carried throughout the HealthCare Center including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the services.

Duties

The Supervisory Social Worker for the Veterans Justice Programs (VJP) completes both administrative and clinical functions in a variety of settings. The VJP Supervisor is knowledgeable and demonstrates skills in evaluating the demands for services in the various Veteran Justice Outreach Program areas. Field travel and service throughout the Bay Pines Healthcare System is a function of the position. The field travel for this position can be monthly, may include scheduling alternate month visits depending on the facility, and provides quarterly meetings as needed with social work and/or other disciplinary staff assigned in the respective facility. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensures that all identified and interested Veterans are provided with verbal and/or written information regarding VA benefits and ensures that the incarcerated Veterans have access to Federal VA Benefits Guides, VA Healthcare Overview Booklets. Assists with Veterans with the completion, submission and follow-up regarding VA eligibility (DD214) and enrollment (VA Form 10-10EZ). Coordinate care for justice-involved veterans in an effort to ensure that eligible veterans have timely access to VHA mental health and substance abuse services when clinically indicated, and other VA services and benefits, as appropriate. Captures all caseload activity, include medical charting (CPRS) and completion of evaluation through appropriate VA Northeast Program Evaluation Center (NEPEC) forms, HOMES and CMTRA to assure staff data is entered timely and accurately. In the VJP section, conducts program analysis, development, review, research, benchmarking, and system redesign. Monitor employee labor mapping to assure accuracy; reviews employee productivity through SWS tools; As applicable, reviews and monitors compliance of the appointment management system for employees. Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Grade Determinations: In addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following qualifications criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade assignment of candidates. GS-12 Supervisory Social Workercandidates must have the following: Education and Experience: One (1) year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. While we no longer require essay-style responses to our Knowledge's Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs), you must be able to demonstrate that you possess the (below) competencies which are necessary to perform the work of the position. These are the KSA's for this subject position: Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines. Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement. Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. Ability to provide staff training and development. Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers. Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the work requires use of fingers; moderate walking and standing; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in on eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; hearing aid permitted; clear speech; emotional stability; moderate duty. Ability to drive and operate government vehicle.
