You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES of COMMANDER NAVY REGION HAWAII.

Duties

You will administer training, orientation, indoctrination, and education programs for fire safety and awareness. You will consider factors (e.g., wind direction, topography, sources of water, environmental hazards) to determine the positioning of fire apparatus, equipment, and tools in firefighting operations. You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities. You will prepare reports for the supervisor concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, inspections, or other topics. You will maintain emergency equipment (e.g., backboards, suction devices, monitors, splints, oxygen delivery systems, stretchers) for future use.

Qualifications

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-08) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Plans, distributes, coordinates, and monitors work assignments of others; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner; 2) Develops the competencies of others to perform and contribute to the organization by inspiring and providing a learning environment of ongoing feedback and opportunities to learn through formal and informal methods, enabling employees to address skill gaps and realize their highest potential; 3) Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and theories of fire control and extinguishment, including characteristics and behavior of fire; 4Knowledge of and ability to apply basic emergency medical techniques, including patient assessment, patient treatment, rescue breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and noninvasive medical procedures. (NOTE: This information must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position.) This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-09: Firefighter I and II, Fire Officer I and II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, HazMat Awareness, Operations, Technician, and Incident Commander (under NFPA standards adopted by DOD), Driver Operator Pumper, and possess National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications and you have not attached copies of your certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
