About the Position: This position falls under the Defense Health Agency Tidewater Market at the McDonald Army Health Center, Directorate of Behavioral Health, Psychology Services.

Duties
Screen and interview patients as well as perform psychological and bio-psychosocial evaluations.
Select, approve, and document treatment priorities through a treatment plan.
Conduct therapy, monitor, approve, and document all treatment planning, and provides advice for case staffing.
Develop treatment processes and procedures for orientation of patients.
Provide definitive diagnoses and formulate behavioral health interventions.
Assess and provide crisis intervention for individuals and families undergoing unusual medically related stresses.
Evaluate appropriateness of treatment plans and goals, develop treatment plans for the most severe cases, and approve diagnoses.
Perform a wide variety of quality management/quality assurance (QM/QA) duties to meet Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements using expert knowledge/experience relating to Psychological counseling.
Oversee and interpret appropriate tests, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to clinical psychology.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization and Tuberculin testing is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
- This is an Inclement Weather Essential position: Incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Licensure Requirement: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting biopsychosocial evaluations; providing individual and/or group psychological counseling; and developing behavioral health treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
