This National Guard position is for a PROGRAM MANAGER (VICE AIR COMMANDER), Position Description Number D1469000 and is part of the 105TH AW, National Guard.

Duties
As a PROGRAM MANAGER (VICE AIR COMMANDER), GS-0340-14, you will be a full assistant to the Air Commander. Your primary purpose would be to provide leadership and management of the flying unit, to provide manpower, equipment, and training in peacetime, in preparation to perform the wartime mission. The incumbent is accountable with the Air Commander in complying with a wide variety of federal, state, and local authorities on all aspects of operations, personnel, equipment, funds, and real property in the accomplishment of duties. In addition, this position may have similar supervisory and/or support responsibilities for other flying and non-flying units which may be collocated or geographically separated.

- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must possess or be able to obtain the appropriate secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- Must currently be an Officer.
- Applicant must be eligible to become a member of the NYNG.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
Qualifications
Military Grades: OFFICER ONLY
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in managing or directing, one or more programs, including appropriate supporting service organizations. Supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work experience and/or training which has provided knowledge of management principles, practices, methods and techniques. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience analyzing problems, identifying significant factors, gathering pertinent data and recognizing solutions; preparing reports, plans, policies and various correspondence; evaluating objectives and develop plans to facilitate the availability and effective utilization of various resources; Must have knowledge of the organization and its mission and utilized the organizational staff procedures. Experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations carried out by administrative or professional personnel, or substantive administrative support functions. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
Preferred to be rated, preferably in a C-17 or qualified for retraining into the unit's equipped aircraft
