You will serve as a HVAC MECHANIC LEADER in the NAVY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will develop work orders using accepted heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) trade practices and pertinent specifications or sketches within the required timeframe.
You will interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical directives to determine the need for maintenance or repairs of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
You will use a direct digital control (DDC) system (e.g., Johnson Controls Metasys, Siemens Apogee, Honeywell Excell 5000, other similar system) to verify performance and basic operation of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
You will use HVAC PRO software (or similar software) to connect to unit controllers for monitoring and diagnosing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
You will disassemble, repair, modify, and reassemble precision assemblies using drawings.
You will repair heating equipment motors, blowers, pilots, and igniters, and other heating related equipment for facilities.
You will check inspections while in progress and when finished to see if instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met.
You will use trade methods to perform routine cutting, bending, and installation of pipe and fittings.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This position may require ability to obtain licenses for the operation of a Fork Lift, High Lift (JLG) and/or Construction equipment upon notification.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

1) Installing, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial and commercial grade air conditioning and refrigeration systems and heating equipment to remove or replace defective components and wiring: 2) Examining, diagnosing malfunctions and making repairs to systems that include analog and/or direct digital control (DDC) systems used in complex heating ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems; 3) Following all guidelines and procedures pertaining to the use and handling of refrigerants in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations; and 4) Troubleshooting mechanical and refrigerant related subassemblies and components (e.g. compressors, fans, evaporators, pumps) to isolate faults.
