Duties

Respond in oral and written form, to requests for information by the media determining the nature of the data required. Conduct interviews in a journalistic manner to develop products in written and broadcast form to meet the organization's strategic objectives. Plan and execute command information and public information campaigns, marketing plans, and various projects to inform and influence various audiences and special interest groups. Develop written materials that transmit information concerning the nature and purpose of the hospital’s mission, vision, values, strategic plans, programs, projects, and items of concern. Prepare briefings, tours, and displays to inform target groups. Arrange for speakers in response to requests from various groups.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes writing publication material such as for news media, social media, and other communication channels; coordinating broadcast interviews and utilizing an office automated systems to prepare a variety of communication materials or reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. [remove LL.B or J.D., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: as Public Affairs, Public Relations, Media Communication or Journalism. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
