About the Position: This is a Landscape Architect GS 13 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division (NWD), Omaha District, responsible for applying a wealth of landscape architectural design expertise in serving as the landscape architectural design expert for NWD-wide projects.

Duties

Provide authoritative approval on landscape architectural features of projects. As a Professional Landscape Architect you will serve as a senior specialist and leader in Landscape Architectural design, as such, you will: Conduct field reconnaissance surveys of proposed sites with the Using Service to obtain information concerning site factors of topography, terrain, suitability of location with respect to other facilities. Gather and develop data necessary for preliminary site studies which serve as a basis for allocating land use areas or functions such as family housing, administrative, operational, industrial, recreational, medical, and transportation. Participate and provide technical orientation, management and senior level review of military master planning and environmental studies performed under service contracts by Architect-Engineer firms.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.

OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had one year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: developing plans for site and landscape design of Military and Civil Works projects, such as multi-building complexes, barracks, child development centers, hospitals, vehicle repair shops and similar types of buildings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Landscape ArchitectureProject ManagementTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
