This position services as an Information Receptionist working under the Veteran Experience Office at G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center.
Duties
This position performs duties such as:
Ability to multi-task while answering phones, greeting visitors and other various changing priorities.
Protect issued equipment, printed and electronic files containing sensitive data.
Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
Provide a positive welcoming message and courteous, helpful service to arriving and departing patients, visitors.
Respond to all telephone calls using positive, customer friendly telephone etiquette always utilizing a salutation, identifying self and location.
Direct family members and other visitors to the appropriate office or service within the facility.
Working knowledge of computer systems i.e. Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Working knowledge of time and attendance operations.
Locates appointment information or team assignments/location for patients when requested using a variety of databases.
Provides accurate and timely responses to request for information and directions.
Assist with locating staff, bus information, taxi information, and other general information.
Stores and distributes inventories, equipment and supplies and monitors use, protection, storage and accountability.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/04/2024.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education s described below:
General Experience: Six months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled, such as greeting or directing visitors, verifying appointment information, preparing correspondence, answering phones, filing items, and processing mail. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one year of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. OR,
Combination: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages.

Physical Requirements: The regular and recurring work of the position involves sitting, standing, and walking as much as 50% of the time. There may be the pushing of wheelchairs, carrying of light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
