This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: The Summer Hire program is from May thru August 2024, will need to be available to start by May 24, 2024. Management may fill multiple vacancies at each location.
Duties
Perform a limited variety of routine, repetitive tasks that require the application of simple work procedures in the engineering field.
Collect, assemble, correlate, and compute pertinent data following a fixed or prescribed sequence.
Organize and record data in well-defined formats or assists in the compilation of more complex documentation.
Participate in studies, inspections, projects or other activities assigned to higher grade personnel by performing familiar tasks and/or carrying out portions of more difficult assignments.
Compile specified data from records or other sources such as specifications and drawings, performing specified arithmetic computations and plotting data and drawing curves.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Qualifications
This is an open-continuous announcement. Referral lists may be requested to fill vacant positions throughout the life of the announcement. Position may be filled as a temporary appointment NTE 1 year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 18 months. A current permanent Army employee is not eligible for return placement under a new appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with collecting, assembling, correlating, and/or computing pertinent data.
OR
Education: One year of education above the high school level.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 6. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
