Position will serve as Scanning/File Clerk in the Scanning/Medical Record File Unit of Health Information Management Service.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Receipts, intakes, indexes, scans, destruction and transfers of health and administrative information.
Ensures that all necessary health/administrative information is integrated into CPRS through PC scanning hardware and software.
Effectively communicates to coordinate record transfer, record follow- up, and record scanning and indexing functions with team members.
Performs filing/retrieval and clerical duties associated with the retention, maintenance, disposition, guardianship, and control of administrative and medical records in a terminal digit filing system.
Routinely purges records of patients not rendered medical care.
Performs duties of record disposal procedures to identify, screen and prepare records.
Maintains file folders and storage equipment in a neat orderly manner.
Files veteran's medical and administrative records, correspondence and medical reports.
Undertakes a variety of miscellaneous administrative duties.
Promotes a positive image of this Medical Center with emphasis on customer service by treating patients, co-workers, and medical center personnel with courtesy and respect.
Protects the confidentiality of customer information, access to computer files and release of access codes, according to established guidelines and policy.
Employs a cooperative attitude in interactions with co-workers and supervisors.
Regularly and cooperatively assists other co-workers when needs arise.
Responds to customers' needs in a positive and efficient manner.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday through Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM, subject to change based on needs of facility

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/02/2024.
General Experience: General Experience:
Experience with computer technology and procedure regarding imaging and scanning applications, computer programs;
Experience with both medical and administrative record keeping, filing, and retention; Experience identifying, organizing and shipping inactive records;
Experience with terminology as it relates to medical and anatomy. This experience must be included in your resume to receive credit.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 2 years of education above high school. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED
OR,
Combination of Experience and Education:
Combination of successfully completing 1 year above high school of education and experience as described above to meet total qualifications requirements.

Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, some bending, stretching, walking, and lifting are required. Boxes of records must be packaged and lifted for shipment. A cart is available. Work is performed in an office setting in the File Unit within this Medical Center. Incumbent is required to walk to various hospital locations in order to retrieve medical records.
