Duties

Directs, Supervises and manages emergency services communications operations in the Emergency Communications Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. Serves as the installation public safety answering point (PSAP) manager. Manages the enhanced 911 system, and manages data for evidence and statistical purposes. Advises on issues of Dispatch Communications, to include review of completed emergency calls for quality of performance and needed improvements in communications procedures, upgrade of communications hardware/software to meet local needs, etc. Directs and supervises the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls by dispatchers, to include installation Fire, Emergency Medical Services, Police, Commercial Intrusion Detection System, and Transmitted Fire alarms. Supervises and directs emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the emergency medical dispatch systems of APG and the municipalities in the local region.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Must be able to meet established hearing and vision tests and to be able to distinguish colors.
  • Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
  • Must successfully complete Emergency Telecommunicator Course (ETC), national crime information center (NCIC) training and Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) training and maintain current certifications.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

  • The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch System and Emergency Fire Dispatch system through an accredited source.
  • The incumbent is required to attend National Accredited Public Safety Dispatcher Training. Continuous current certification is a condition of employment.
  • The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • The incumbent must successfully pass a national Criminal Information Center (NCIC) Interstate Identification Index (III) background check.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
  • The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
