About the Position: This position is with, US ARMY IMCOM NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER, OFFICE OF THE GARRISON COMMANDER, DIRECTORATE OF HUMAN RESOURCES, ALCOHOL SUB ABUSE PREVENTION (ASAP) FORT IRWIN, CA.

Duties

Serve as manager of the installation Suicide Prevention Program and works in conjunction with the Commanders Ready and Resilience Council (CR2C) to ensure that suicide prevention activities are carried out. Stay current on latest research findings related to suicide prevention and ensures suicide prevention task force receives updates on findings. Brief installation command as requested on unit compliance with established training objectives related to suicide prevention. Ensure that installation suicide prevention efforts involve post wide education/awareness for all active duty, family members and civilian work force.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 3, Moderate Risk, Confidential background throughout the appointment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement on an occasional basis.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain certification for Army-approved suicide intervention skills training programs.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Suicide Prevention Program Manager: A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Behavior Science or Social Science. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes the following. Provide technical briefings, orientations, training, and workshops involving support programs in the Suicide Prevention programs, such as one in a military environment. Develop program policies and procedures, research, develop and market the Suicide Prevention program. Coordinate and assess, statistical data to ensure the program is complying and look for issues that need to be fixed. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study]. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and EvaluatingTeaches Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-9).
