About the Position: Serves as ACS Specialist at the installation level with professional and technical responsibility for assisting with assessing, tailoring and prioritizing ACS service delivery in support of local military and Family needs. This position is located in Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Provides referrals for specialized support and follows up on actions to ensure appropriate linkage for Soldiers and Families for Deployment and reunions
Evaluate services needs, training, and/or coordination with other agencies to determine resolution.
Serve as Army Community Service (ACS) Multi-Functional Specialist at the installation level for mobilization and deployment.
Interview, counsels, and advises individuals and families on all facets of the ACS and deployment
Acts as advocate for military families by crafting organizations quality of life approach toward deployments and reunions.
Develops plans that meet both long and short range goals for units and their deployments with Family Readiness Groups.
Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies.
Conducts unit needs' assessments and compiles and analyzes data for trainings.
Implements various service delivery models designed to assist service members in fulfilling their responsibilities to prepare their families for their mission-related absences.
Implement, Prepares and delivers briefings and trainings, presentations on services and activities of the deployment cycle.
Uses Social Media for virtual trainings.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain SECRET security clearance/background investigation.
- Requirement of Temporary Duty Travel of 1%.

Basic Requirement
Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position, you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) coordinating plans, activities and support to family members and mobilized deployment personnel; 2) handling client problems related to mobilization and deployment; 3) developing and using self-assessment, community assessment and various measurement tools to identify trends and organizational needs; and 4) developing marketing strategies and public relations programs.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
