This position is located in a State or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD). It is a developmental position with duties designed to provide training and development to prepare the incumbent for advancement to a higher-level Loan Specialist position.
Must report for work in Iola, Kansas.
Duties
Review and analyze preapplications, applications and all supporting documents to determine loan or grant eligibility and inputs data into appropriate automated database system.
Check for compliance of regulatory requirements, financial position, soundness of collateral, and repayment ability.
Analyze financial and credit data documents to make sound eligibility, feasibility, and credit-worthiness determinations and takes appropriate action for orderly processing of the loan and/or grant.
Prepare written loan/grant recommendations and submits to supervisor for review.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
For the GS-09 level: Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07; or its non-Federal equivalent demonstrates: Basic knowledge in performing loan making and/or loan servicing duties such as regularly examining loan applications, supporting documents and credit reports, and maintaining servicing activities of somewhat complex loans and/or grants; assisting higher level loan specialists by performing assigned portions of financial credit analysis in connection with more complex loans as a way of acquiring training and competency for more difficult loan examining and servicing assignments.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level.
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other fields related to the position, such as agriculture, agricultural economics, farm, livestock or ranch management, or rural sociology.
