About the Position: You will perform as a administrative and technical support duties to assist others in accomplishing overall responsibilities. Provides administrative and technical assistance required to evaluate DA permit applications, compliance, and/or enforcement cases for activities in waters of the United States and/or navigable waters of the United States with the regulatory authority of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.

Duties

Periodic visits to offices to review files and records for compliance with applicable regulations to ensure consistency. Search files and records manually and electronically. Maintain suspense files on all branch activities including permit actions, congressional inquiries and FOIA requests. Provide administrative and logistical support required for the planning, scheduling and conduct of regulatory public hearings. Receive visitors, applicants, or other parties and directs them to the responsible employee or handles situation independently. Serve as VISA card holder in the district office to secure internal services and purchase equipment for office operations. Perform clerical support and typing duties to assist the secretarial staff. Retrieve and file correspondence, records, reports, and permit documents by subject matter as well as by number. Assist with the preparation and management of the budget. Review permit applications, determining accuracy of drawings and/or sketches of the proposed structure or work.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.
  • Applicants can be selected at either the GS-05, GS-06, or GS-07 level. The target grade of this position is GS-07.
  • This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-06 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing administrative and clerical support to ensure compliance with regulations. Support activities included maintaining files and records, timekeeping, coordinating public meetings and hearings, and providing courteous customer service in person, by email, and by telephone. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying a broad knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures in order to perform a variety of administrative support work associated with budgets, fiscal accounts, purchasing and supplies, time and attendance, and travel and transportation, and providing courteous customer service in person, by email, and by telephone. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job at the GS-6 and GS-7 grade levels, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
