This announcement is issued under the direct-hire authority to recruit for positions for which there is a critical need. Duties
Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure and key resources.
Build, install, configure, and test dedicated cyber defense hardware.
Administer test bed(s), and test and evaluate applications, hardware infrastructure, rules/signatures, access controls, and configurations of platforms managed by service provider(s).
Collect and maintain data needed to meet system cybersecurity reporting.
Provide advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes.
Provide recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
IT Competencies:
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail-Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2. Customer Service-Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Specialized Experience:
At the GS-13: Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience tests, implements, deploys, maintains, and administers the infrastructure hardware and software, or responsible in providing support for the cybersecurity of a program, organization, system, or enclave, or directly manages information technology projects.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
