You will serve as a SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER in the SECURITY DEPARTMENT of NAS JACKSONVILLE SEC DET.

Duties

You will implement force protection measures in compliance with laws and regulations. You will follow National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols in the event of a significant incident affecting public safety and the installation mission. You will enforce traffic laws and issue citations for violations (e.g., speeding, reckless driving, driving under the influence). You will conduct limited investigations of crimes or suspected criminal activities and provides investigative support to segments of more extensive investigations. You will conduct investigative stops, question, detain, and take appropriate actions to resolve incidents as required. You will prepare documents, correspondence, memoranda, reports, papers, charts, statistical tables, and messages.

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Directing and making immediate decisions in the provisions of law enforcement (LE), antiterrorism (AT), and Force Protection (FP); 2) Performing a full range of duties and responsibilities in preventing terrorist activities, resolving offenses, conducting preliminary and ongoing investigations of incidents; 3) Documenting law enforcement and security events and the issuance of citations; and, 4) Implementing FPCON measures and RAM in the response to command direction and terrorist threats.
