About the Position: This position is with the 99th Readiness Division, Finance Division, Resource Management Office, located in Fort Dix, NJ. Description of the Working Environment: Work is performed in an office setting.

Duties

Assists in providing technical guidance on pay matters to units. Prepares command policies and procedures for USAR units to ensure appropriate action is taken to correct identified deficiencies. Analyze pay statistics to identify problems and trends. Reviews work products of subordinates and accepts, amends or rejects work as appropriate. Perform USAR Pay program regular reviews of unit Reserve Pay operations to ensure compliance with USARC guidance and accurate timely payments to TPU Soldiers. Prepares and provides information and decision briefings to the staff. Trains and develops subordinates to enhance processing of pay actions and allowances.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Financial Management Certification Level 2 is required within 2 years of appointment date.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves knowledge of various regulations and procedures applicable to pay systems to provide guidance and assistance to subordinate units and to conduct training in all areas of reserve pay procedure enhancements of the automated pay systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Financial Management or Accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: CompensationConcepts, Policies, and Principles of FinanceTeaching Others Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
