Duties
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of the Child and Youth Programs (CYP) Assistant Training Specialist position is to assist the CYP Training and Curriculum Specialist (TCS) in providing and delivering a comprehensive training program that supports the professional requirements of all CYP positions. The Assistant Training Specialist implements a developmentally appropriate program that fosters the physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development of children and youth, ages 6 weeks to 18 years. The incumbent will be assigned to work with a TCS, who provides guidance and advice on all aspects of work.

Qualifications
Successful completion of a 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or Child/Youth Development or a related field such as Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Consumer Science (Early Childhood emphasis) AND 1 year of full time experience working with children and/or youth. In addition to the basic requirements stated above, the following is required:Experience that involved teaching children or other work that demonstrated the ability to perform the duties of the position. Ability to select, train, and evaluate childcare, youth employees, and family childcare providers. Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family childcare programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs. Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions. Possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.OR Successful completion of at least 24 semester hours in a major course of study in education or appropriate CYP field as indicated above AND 3 years of appropriate work experience that provided knowledge skills and abilities directly related to the duties described. In addition to the basic requirements stated above the following is required: 3 months of directly related work experience teaching children or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade or level requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position to be filled. Ability to develop and implement child development programs, including family child care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs. Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions. Possess comprehensive oral and communications skills and analytical writing skills, and the ability to present ideas and proposals to a variety of audiences.Highly Preferred Criteria:- Possess 12 months experience in a USMC CYP or other service Child and Youth Programs.Experience with the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children)accreditation- Possess 24 credit hours in ECE (Early Childhood Education)Must be able to obtain and maintain TIER-1 Child Care (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age. Must pass a preemployment physical and annual physicals thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, DoD Standardized Virtual Lab School Training, and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.Note: This position is identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random drug testing because duties must be performed with a high level of productivity, reliability and judgment to prevent adversely affecting personnel safety, and causing risk/damage to government property, and/or significant adverse impact to day-to-day operations."Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws.
