This position is in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Civil Engineer Unit Oakland (CEU Oak), located in Oakland, CA.

Duties

This position serves as a Construction Control Representative with a multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering team. The incumbent will serve as a project point of contact for customers, activity, command, and contracting teams for independent technical reviews, project scoping, field investigation, planning, cost estimating, problem and conflict resolution, scheduling, design production and construction.

Qualifications

For the GS-11: Applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-10 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience are:  Inspecting a broad scope of construction projects for the repair, rehabilitation, improvement and maintenance of all types of shore facilities. Engineering aid or technician or surveying technician performing work directly related to construction. Interpreting plans and specifications, inspecting materials and workmanship and insuring adherence to safety requirements as a construction representative Construction inspector or construction representative responsible for interpreting plans and specifications, inspecting materials and workmanship, and insuring adherence to safety requirements. Supervisor of craftspersons, equipment operators, or mechanics engaged in construction work, provided that the experience involved responsibility for interpreting plans and specifications and inspecting workmanship for adherence to such plans and specifications. Student Loan Incentive:  Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. More than one loan may be repaid if the combined repayments do not exceed $10,000. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
