You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER in the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center Fire Department (MCMWTC Fire) of BRIDGEPORT, CA.
Duties
You will respond to all structure fires, operate hydrants, deploy fire hose lines, perform ladder operations, operate fire nozzles, and other fire extinguishing equipment to effect fire suppression.
You will respond to all medical emergencies and provide for the rescue and on scene stabilization for victims of fire, sudden illness, accidental injuries, childbirth, and other events requiring medical personnel.
You will respond to all hazardous materials incidents as required.
You will participate in all drills and classroom training to maintain level of proficiency to perform required duties.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- Required to work a seventy-two (72) hour work week and is subject to overtime and recall during off duty hours.

- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You must possess a California State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
- You will be required to maintain DoD Firefighter I IFSAC, DoD Firefighter II IFSAC, DoD Hazardous Materials Awareness IFSAC, DoD Hazardous Materials Operations IFSAC, DoD Driver/Operator Pumper IFSAC or Pro Board.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain United States Forest Service Wildland Firefighter Red Card certification within one year from date of employment.
- You must possess a current American Heart Association or equivalent certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- This position requires rotating shift work.
- You must possess a current State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification.

Qualifications
GS-07:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: As a Firefighter responding to all fires, operate hydrants, lay hose lines, ladder operation, operate nozzle and other extinguishing equipment to effect fire suppression.
GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: As a Firefighter performing the duties of rescue operations, firefighting operations, responding to hazardous material emergencies and providing emergency medical treatment including but not limited to Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Education
GS-05:
Applicants may also qualify based on education OR a combination of education and experience, in lieu of the one year of specialized experience listed above for GS-05 ONLY, through ONE of the following:
Successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university with major study in Fire Science, Fire Training, or related fields of study.
OR
Possess a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serving as a Firefighter responding to fires and fire related emergencies involving structures, aircraft, motor vehicles, wild land, and hazardous materials, AND administering emergency care.
