This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1264000 and is part of the FL SMO, National Guard.

Duties

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-5801-9, you will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials, and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-project basis. Adheres to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by the supervisor. Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments. Tracks and reports progress on work assignments and requests authority to adjust worker assignments; and to use overtime, equipment, and materials to meet schedules. Recommends changes to schedules, priorities, and work sequences as necessary and makes minor deviations in procedures or redirects resources under their control to overcome problems such as equipment failure, material delays, or unplanned absences.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

• May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLNG BUS Code 8888: This position is "excluded" and ineligible for labor organization representation. MILITARY GRADES: Warrant Officer; WO1 thru CW2 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WS-09 Must have at least 36 months specialized experience; diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and modifying more complex vehicles, equipment, and more complicated systems. Experience which has provided a thorough knowledge of diagnostic equipment. Experience applying independent judgment in determining methods and techniques required to solve unusually complex maintenance and repair problems. Experienced in testing, inspecting, and evaluating the work performed on vehicles, equipment and systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
