The primary purpose of this position is to provide highly skilled office automation services in support of the Air Force Recruiting Service Group's mission. This position serves as a central point of contact that provides a variety of clerical and general administrative support throughout the three Recruiting Groups.
Duties
Performs highly complex office automation assignments including designing, developing, linking, and modifying spreadsheets, databases, graphics, flowcharts, statistics, management information and word processing documents to support a variety of high-level briefing charts.
The employee accomplishes various duties to provide essential Recruiting Group's automation support and production. Uses the knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics and advanced functions of a variety of different software types to improve the efficiency and/or effectiveness of the Recruiting Group's operations.
Transmits, receives, and acknowledges electronic mail and messages. Checks transmittals for proper clearances. Prints and routes hard copies of incoming mail or routes electronically to other terminals or workstations as designated. Maintains electronic files of information for later retrieval as appropriate.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, or operations applied to secretarial and clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, making and preparing travel arrangements, locating, assembling and composing information for various reports, inquiries, and nontechnical correspondence.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of the organization.
2. Knowledge of the full range of automation tools. Knowledge of the full range of graphics software functions, processes and capabilities; Knowledge of the full range of word processing software functions, processes and capabilities.
3. Knowledge of the full range of communications software functions, processes and capabilities. Knowledge of the full range of spreadsheet software functions, processes and capabilities. Knowledge of common clerical practices and office routines.
4. Knowledge of correspondence rules and regulations. Ability to interpret and apply regulations and procedures pertaining to administrative support such as timekeeping, travel, and attendance reporting.
5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. Ability to prepare and/or edit written correspondence, ensuring proper use of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
6. Ability to use office automation technology to generate reports, briefing materials and/or comparable documents; must be a qualified typist.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
