The Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic within the Facilities Management Service is assigned to general equipment control maintenance and repair duties associated with heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), boilers, chillers and energy management. Work is performed at the journeymen level as a team member to perform the overhaul, installation and maintenance of various types of electronically controlled Building Automation and Control System equipment.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Repair, update, and operate the Siemens Building Automation & Control System.
Repair, update, and operate the Siemens Niagra Talon Building Automation & Control System.
Assist with the training of Operators to achieve optimum efficiency of the Building Automation and Control Systems and associated controls.
Keep the Operations Supervisor informed on the status and progress of control work to support projects, control repair work, and overall Hospital work operations.
Responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic controls used on the Air Conditioning equipment throughout the hospital, the Boiler Plant and the Chiller Plant.
Repair of building Automation and Control equipment sensors, switches, control valves, damper calculators, and VFD controls.
Repair Field Panels throughout the Hospital.
Program and maintain front end computers for various control systems.
Stand watch in the plant as a Boiler Operator or a Chiller Operator when needed.
Make emergency repairs during and after normal working hours.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday

Physical Requirements: Work assignments require moderate physical effort. Employee frequently lifts carry, handle items weighing up to 50 pounds. Occasionally handle items greater than 50 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items, Work is in a sitting position for extended periods of time. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing work in high places.
Working Conditions: The work is done indoors and outdoors, on elevated structures, and in cramped areas. Subject to discomfort from face masks or other protective devices when there is a possibility of exposure to chemicals, heat, steam, noise, noxious gases, fumes, or acids. The incumbent is frequently exposed to harsh conditions and extreme temperature variances while in the performance of daily duties. The incumbent could be subject to cuts, burns, electrical shock and respiratory ailments, and may be exposed to refrigerant, smoke, dust chemicals, etc. The incumbent may be required to work in hot, cold, dirty, wet, high, cramped, or isolated locations to repair equipment.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
