THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the IL CSMS 2, National Guard.
Duties
As a ELECTRONICS EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR (TITLE 32), WG-2604-12, you will inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Use a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems.
Inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity.
Conduct inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc.
Use various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required.

Consider a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether
repair is economical.
Prepare lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized.
Requirements
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. If you are not sure you are eligible for military membership, please contact a National Guard recruiter prior to applying for this position.
- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank E1 - Maximum Rank E-7
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-12 Level MUST possess at least 18 months of experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment; experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems; experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment; experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc; experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
