This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Hopi Agency in Keams Canyon, Arizona. This position purchases a variety of complex and specialized materials, supplies, services, construction, and/or equipment under the provisions of the Simplified Acquisition Program (SAP). NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.

Duties

The Purchasing Agent will provide advice and guidance on all procurement transactions for agency supplies, services, material and equipment to ensure compliance of existing procurement regulations and methods for accurate accounting of information Awards contracts to the full extent of the simplified acquisition threshold. Evaluates the need to add clauses not normally required in simplified acquisition such as liquidated damages, government property, and liability. Independently communicates information to suppliers with suggested revisions and/or resolutions.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal Service obatain in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing advice for procurement transactions, review requisitions for compliance, verifying descriptions for quantity and accuracy; maintain procurement register, follow-up receiving reports for shipments, maintain proper care of shipments, check for shortages, overages, damages, correspond with freight companies; prepare quarterly and procurement related reports, making purchases for office supplies such as equipment and furniture, processing physical inventory and identification numbers, pay agency utilities such as phone bill based on corresponding billing statements; identify and process disposal property following department policy, recommend office equipment and vehicle replacement products, make periodic checks on account payable and undelivered orders. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date. Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
