THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a OPTICAL INSTRUMENT REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1211000 and is part of the LOGISTICS, National Guard.
This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants.
*THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN STATEN ISLAND.**
Recruitment, Retention, and Relocation Incentive may be authorized up to 25% of base pay for a max of 4 years pending TAG approval.
Duties
As a OPTICAL INSTRUMENT REPAIRER, WG-3306-10, you will perform maintenance, repair, and inspections on optical and non-optical precision instruments and related devices
Requirements
- National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must be able to obtain security clearance within one year of appointment.
Qualifications
Military Grades: ENLISTED ONLY
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to apply knowledge of optical theory and construction principles in order to test, repair, align, and collimate a variety of complex optical equipment. Experience which demonstrates the ability to understand and apply instructions, and specifications; and interpret blue prints and diagrams of optical paths and mechanical linkages. Experience using hand and power tools common to an optical shop.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you have at least 18 months experience or training repairing, rebuilding, overhauling systems and components of optical instrument equipment. Experience in diagnosing malfunction in determining remedy where complex relationships exist among optical systems and supporting mechanical and electrical systems. Experience in the use of a variety of measuring and testing equipment. Experience interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics and work orders.
