Duties
Serves as a first line supervisor in the Security and Emergency Services Division, DLA Installation Management Richmond, Security Operations Branch (SF-RSS) Richmond, VA.
Responsible for implementing assigned DLA security programs ensuring that all actions taken are in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Ensures command officials are provided advice, assistance, and support pertaining to assigned programs.
Acts as the subject-matter expert for physical security for long term program goals, incorporating the latest information on security techniques and technologies for protecting critical assets.
Addresses all physical security issues and concerns as they arise, to include actual threats and incidents, implication of physical security measures.
Reviews construction plans for new facilities or renovations to existing facilities to ensure that physical security issues are addressed and that adequate protective measures are incorporated into the plans.
Conducts anti-terrorism vulnerability assessments, makes recommendations for improvement and provides documented studies.
Assists in researching and preparing written briefs on a daily basis and oral briefings, during exercise/real world emergency situations.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory Security Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Implements guidelines and procedures, development and management of training standards for all personnel, oversight and management of physical security reviews, management of centralized physical security initiatives, and oversight of physical security projects.
Reviewing investigative reports, physical security inspections, and security education training reports.
Developing and maintaining guidelines which are used for protection and security.
Preparing and submitting physical security surveys and inspections and reporting findings to higher-level executives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
